Help Shape a Healthier Future: Participate in the 49ͼ Smoke-Free Campus Survey

49ͼ is committed to providing a learning and working environment that supports the health and well-being of all students and employees. As part of this commitment, the College is working towards our campuses going smoke-free by September 2025. To ensure this initiative reflects the needs and views of our community, we invite you to participate in the . Your feedback will be considered in the implementation plan for going smoke-free.

NOTE: Smoke-free is defined as no smoking on campus of the following substances: cigarettes, e-cigarettes, non-Indigenous smoking pipes, and marijuana.

This survey is a vital part of the 49ͼ Wellness Strategy, which includes the goal of having a smoke-free campus. This initiative aligns with 49ͼ's commitment to the Okanagan Charter, which 49ͼ signed as part of its dedication to student and employee health and wellness.

The survey is just the beginning. Feedback gathered will help guide the next steps as 49ͼ plans this important change. After gathering the survey results, 49ͼ will form focus groups to dive deeper into the data, ensuring that the voices of our students and staff are heard throughout the process.

The College has formed a committee of representatives from across the College to provide guidance and input. Jacqui Noftall, one of the committee members for this initiative stated, “Student and employee wellness is important to us. We need everyone's input as part of the successful implementation of 49ͼ becoming a smoke-free campus.”
